概述
Palouse and Snake River
From the Palouse wheat hills to the steep-sided Snake River valley, across Washington and Idaho: viewpoints, prairie trails and university towns around Pullman and Moscow.
Loess soils form long agricultural waves, green in late spring and golden around harvest. Steptoe Butte reveals their curves from above; Kamiak Butte offers a walk through woodland to an open ridge. Fields and farm tracks remain private property.
檢視全部
To the south, Wawawai opens onto the Snake River landscape. Pullman and Moscow add museums, cycling trails and university gardens. Palouse Falls is an excursion west of the Palouse core: view the waterfall from permitted areas above the canyon, without descending to its base.
Plan on motor transport between areas, followed by walks or cycle rides locally. Spring and early summer suit green hills and wildflowers; late summer brings harvest colours, heat and possible wildfire smoke. Check park alerts, road access and museum calendars before travelling.

必去之地
一份幫你開始憧憬和安排旅程的精選——並非所有可看之處的完整清單。

Viewpoint
Steptoe Butte
This quartzite butte rises above the loess hills, opening broad views over Palouse farmland. Low-angle light reveals the folds, while crops change the colours. Check park alerts and Hume Road access before driving up, and use designated parking only.

Trail and viewpoint
Kamiak Butte County Park
Pine Ridge Trail climbs through conifer woodland to an open ridge above the fields. The walk reveals the contrast between wooded slopes and surviving prairie. Keep to the trails to protect plants, especially during the spring flowering season.

Waterfall and canyon
Palouse Falls State Park Heritage Site
West of the Palouse core, the Palouse River drops into a basalt canyon shaped by huge glacial floods. Explore this excursion from the park’s permitted viewpoints. The slopes and waterfall base are excluded from the proposed visit: obey closures, keep back from the edge and carry water.

Riverside interpretive trail
Wawawai County Park
In the Snake River valley, this park combines a sheltered inlet, trees and an interpretive trail. It offers a stop to study the canyon landscape and birds from designated areas. The river is regulated: this shoreline visit is neither a white-water descent nor supervised swimming.
