Saas-Fee and the Saas Valley
A more compact glacial valley than Zermatt, with a car-free village, 4000-metre peaks and altitude routes.
Saas-Fee, Mittelallalin and Längfluh give the most telling landmarks of Saas-Fee and Saas Valley. Together, they make up a destination where mountain reliefs and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than a single uniform decor.

For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: high mountain altitude and weather. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

The Dom dominates the massif of the Mischabel above Saas-Fee, with glaciers, snow walls and Valais villages at its feet. Its high silhouette is seen from the trails and ski lifts; the ascent clearly belongs to mountaineering, with acclimation, rope and glacial conditions.

Saas-Fee gives a feeling of compact mountaineering, with a living centre and natural access to steeper horizon lines. The place becomes concrete by a walk that respects the alternation between central and lateral areas.

Mittelallalin
To Mittelallalin, the arrival at altitude opens suddenly on the glaciers of Saas-Fee and the tight peaks around the Allalin. The visit is especially valid for this mineral world sensation suspended, with nearby snows, sharp edges and light that can make the relief almost unreal in clear weather.

Saas-Grund occupies the valley bottom facing the slopes of the Saastal, with a more direct and village atmosphere than Saas-Fee. It's a good starting point to feel the mountain on a daily basis: cable cars, chalets, torrents and uphill paths structure the day.
