概述
Zhongwei and Shapotou
Dunes, Yellow River and oasis irrigation meet at the edge of the Tengger Desert.
Shapotou, Tengger Desert and Zhongwei Gao Temple give the most telling landmarks of Zhongwei and Shapotou. Together, they form a destination where urban life, desert areas, riverscapes and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

For a stay of 2 to 5 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Place indismissible
Shapotou
High dunes fall to the Yellow River west of Zhongwei. An early-in-the-day visit allows you to better observe local usages and the details of the place, while avoiding some of the groups and traffic.

Place indismissible
Tengger Desert
The fourth desert of China extends to the northwest of the oasis. Distances, weather and access conditions must be checked before departure; water, warm clothing and time limits remain useful, even in summer.

神廟
Gao Temple of Zhongwei
A dense religious ensemble superimposes pavilions, halls and passages in the old center. The place remains culturally sensitive and discovers with discretion, without hindering local practices; religious timetables, outfit and photographic rules are to be checked on site.
