Lake and city
Zell am See
Zell am See places a lively alpine centre directly on the edge of a lake, with quays, cafes and views to the peaks of Pinzgau. In summer, the days alternate easily swimming, boating and walking on the shore; in winter, the city retains its basic role between frozen lake and ski areas.

Kaprun
Kaprun does not have the most refined postcard decor in the region, but its position makes it very effective. From the village, the Sigmund-Thun-Klamm gorges, the altitude dams and the Kitzsteinhorn lifts combine well on an active stay.
Mountain
Kitzsteinhorn
At Kitzsteinhorn, climbs leave Kaprun pastures to reach a world of rock, snow and wide panoramas. Interest is as much in climb as in altitude platforms; in clear weather, the gaze is towards a crown of peaks, while fog can tighten everything within minutes.
