Cahul is the great city of the south-west Moldovan, known for its thermal baths, theatre, markets and proximity to the Prut wetlands. It is a simple base to reach Lake Beleu, while offering a slower southern atmosphere, facing the Romanian border.

Lake Beleu belongs to the humid landscapes of the lower Prut, with reeds, shallow waters and migratory birds depending on the seasons. The place appreciates for its silence and low horizon; binoculars and patience count there more than a list of monuments to check.
