For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: seasonality to check and sometimes important distances. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Culture and heritage
Monticello
Monticello shows Thomas Jefferson's house as an experience of design, landscape and historical contradictions. The buildings, gardens and stories of people who have been reduced to slavery give a denser reading than that of a simple crossing point. It is a place of depth.
Culture and heritage
University of Virginia
The University of Virginia is organized around the Lawn, a long lawn lined with classical pavilions and dominated by Rotunda. The set designed by Thomas Jefferson keeps a rare strength because there is still a campus in use, crossed by students, bikes and conversations. The visit is played in proportions, colonnades and views framed between the buildings.
Place indismissible
Downtown Mall
Downtown Mall is the daily living front of the Charlottesville, with historic buildings, restaurants and entertainment spaces in continuity. It is urban breathing after more institutional sites. The pedestrian street adapts well to the slow pace as well as to the festive passage.
