Zollverein
Zollverein transforms the old industrial world of the Ruhr into a cultural landscape, with horse-riding, bricks, rails and rehabilitated buildings. The site is struck by its scale and graphic rigor, particularly interesting to understand how Essen has converted its mining memory.

Museum Folkwang
The Museum Folkwang offers one of the major artistic stages of Essen, with a strong collection in modern painting, photography and graphic arts. Its clarity of course makes it a very pleasant interior stop, especially to balance the industrial discovery of the Ruhr.
Heritage
Villa Hügel
Villa Hügel tells of the industrial power of the Krupp family through an imposing house and its park above the Baldeneysee. There is less a private house than a social and economic symbol, linked to the rise of the Ruhr.
