Harpers Ferry is organized around the confluence of Potomac-Shenandoah and a historic centre where the entire industry and national memory are intertwined. The park allows you to follow the places associated with an abolitionist attempt, without making it an abstract account. We read a city where geography explains in part the historical episodes.

The path that leads to it highlights the geological strength of the site as well as its strategic role of view. It is a very legible stop along the river.

L-Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Harpers Ferry, is a symbolic landmark for the Appalachian Trail walkers. The centre gathers maps, photos of hikers, tips and memory of a trail that crosses much of the eastern American.
