Jelgava and Zemgale
Former capital of the Duchy of Courland in the middle of the agricultural plains of southern Latvia.
To understand what Jelgava and Zemgale are, you must look at the Jelgava Palace, the Tower of the Holy Trinity and the Těrvete Natural Park. These places give us a view of a territory marked by urban life, riverscapes, heritage and countryside and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

Jelgava Palace
The Palace of Jelgava It occupies a low island between the arms of the Lielupe, with a baroque facade long and almost severe. Former residence of the Dukes of Courland, it now combines court architecture, historical crypt and university life, in a setting where water counts as much as stone.

Tower of the Holy Trinity
The only survivor of the old church, the tower of the Holy Trinity tells of a Jelgava Its exhibitions place the city in its history, while the upper platform shows the recent roofs, the Lielupe and the rare ancient fragments still visible.

Natural park of Těrvete
The forest of pine trees is thought of for family walking, with footbridges, clearings and sculptures of characters drawn from Latvian tales. The routes remain easy, but the interest also comes from huge trunks, filtered light and the impression of entering into a popular narrative setting.
