Tetouan maintains a medina whose architecture and urban fabric testify to the links with Andalusia. Moulay El Mehdi Square, organised around a fountain, offers a landmark to travel the Tetouan Watershed. Outside the medina, this neighborhood developed during the Spanish protectorate allows to compare the alignments of facades and streets of the modern city with the ancient fabric.

Martil is a town on the Mediterranean coast, northeast of Tetouan. Its name recalls the Río Martín of the Spanish protectorate period; it is a maritime stage separate from the Tetuana medina.
