Ubari
Oubari is located in the Fezzan, in contact with an oasis valley and a vast desert of dunes. The Lake Gaberoun gives a salty environment in the heart of the sands, while Germa refers to the history of the Garamantes. L-erg is far beyond the urban surroundings and should not be treated as an ordinary excursion.
The most telling landmarks of Oubari are the town of Oubari, Erg d'Oubari and Lake Gaberoun. Together, they form a destination where desert areas, shores and lakes and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than a single uniform decor.

For a stay of 3 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: tourist trip formally not recommended within the chosen perimeter. Oubari is an Osian town in the Wadi al Hayaa region of Fezzan. It gives its name to a vast desert complex but does not confuse itself with the whole sand sea or with the lakes in the dunes.
