General presentation
Athènes classique
Ancient and museum heart of Athens, between Acropolis, Agora, Pláka, museums, urban hills and great landmarks of the contemporary city.
Acropolis, ancient Agora and Pláka give the most telling landmarks of classical Athens. Together, they form a destination where the big city, urban life and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: high-street sites and high heat in summer. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Town or village
Acropole
I'm not sure what I'm doing.Acropole concentrates Athens on a spelt of light rock, with the Parthenon, the Propylées and the Erechthéion cut over the city. The visit plays as much on ancient marbles as on the views to Mount Lycabette, the Agora and the sea in the distance, especially when the light drops at the end of the day.

Town or village
Agora antique
To l-Agora antique The ruins do not form a fixed decoration: they draw the old public space where political, commercial and daily life were crossed. The temple of Hephaïstos, very legible on its hill, and the rebuilt stoa help to imagine the portals, debates and passages at the foot of the Acropolis.

Town or village
Pláka
Pláka Its alleys are at the foot of the Acropolis, between low houses, flowered stairs, taverns and neoclassical facades. The neighborhood quickly changes its atmosphere according to the hour: lively around the shopping streets, more secret to Anafiotika, where the whitewashed walls and narrow passages remind an island of the Cyclades.

Remarkable location
Salamine
Salamin is a short distance from Athens, but its island atmosphere remains linked to the ports, ferries and dry hills of the Saronic Gulf. Its name evokes the ancient naval battle, while the current visit shows mostly ordinary shores, coves and a simple escape out of the Athenian center.
