General presentation
Big Sur
Blast falsies, forests and coves along a mythical road in the Pacific.
To understand what Big Sur is, you need to look at Bixby Creek Bridge, McWay Falls and Pfeiffer Beach. These places give us a view of a territory marked by the coastline, forests and natural spaces and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Nature and panorama
Bixby Creek Bridge
Bixby Creek Bridge Hanging Highway 1 over a canyon that falls to the Pacific, with its arch of concrete laid between cliffs and coastal bushes. The bridge is better seen from the north, when the road, bow and ocean enter the same frame.

Nature and panorama
McWay Falls
McWay Falls descends from a cliff directly to a turquoise creek, often observed from the panoramic path of Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. The beach below remains inaccessible, keeping instead a particular distance: one looks at the waterfall, the sand and the ocean as a closed scene.

Nature and landscape
Pfeiffer Beach
Pfeiffer Beach hides at the end of a small narrow road, then opens onto sand sometimes violacious and large rocks pierced by the sea. Keyhole Rock attracts photographers at sunset, especially when the light passes through its arch in winter.

Nature and landscape
Point Sur Lighthouse
The Point Sur Lighthouse The guided tours tell about the life of the guards, shipwrecks and fog nights, with a clear view of a coast where the lighthouses had a very concrete role.
