General presentation
Bratislava
Compact Danubian capital, between castle, old town, docks, Austro-Hungarian architecture and getaway to Devín.
Bratislava Castle, Old Town and Danube give the most telling landmarks of Bratislava. Together, they form a destination where urban life, heritage and riverscapes meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 4 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: a weekend-long tourist centre and a rather short urban stay. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

World Heritage
Les frontières de l’Empire romain – le limes du Danube (segment occidental)
The Danube file follows one of the major border rivers of Rome, with strongholds, camps, roads and military remains established at checkpoints. Bratislava The river helps to understand the device: it served as both a barrier, a transport route and a monitoring line.

Remarkable location
Piešťany
Piešťany is a Slovak spa town known for its warm waters and therapeutic muds, on the banks of the Váh. Its parks, cure facilities and thermal island make up a soft stopover, more interesting for a day of rest than for a classic monumental visit.

Castle
Château de Bratislava
The castle of Bratislava overlooks the Danube and gives the best step back to the Slovak capital. The terrace, gardens and rooms allow to connect old city, river and Austrian border in the same reading.

Historical centre
Vieille ville et quais du Danube
The old town concentrates squares, palaces, medieval doors and cafes in a very accessible perimeter. Bratislava shows its danubian side, more open, with views to the SNP bridge and the castle.
