The old bazaar Skopje concentrates shopping alleys, mosques, hammams, caravans and small squares in a still very lively Ottoman fabric. The visit is best by walking slowly, alternating shops, internal courtyards and views towards the fortress that dominates the neighborhood.
Fortress

The fortress of Skopje overlooks the Vardar valley and gives a simple reading of the city, between old bazaar, monumental center and more recent neighborhoods. The ramparts are visited quite quickly, but the views help to replace Skopje in its Balkan crossing site.
Canyon
Canyon Matka
The Matka Canyon offers a breakaway very close to Skopje, with water, cliffs, monasteries and trails by the lake. It can be enough to take a walk or extend by boat to the caves, but the crowd often requires to aim for quiet hours.
