General presentation
Dougga, Testour et Thuburbo Majus
This heritage circuit combines the ancient city of Dougga, the Andalusian heritage of Testour and the site of Thuburbo Majus near El Fahs. Both archaeological sets allow comparison of monuments and urban organization. Thuburbo Majus is a separate stage in Zaghwan governorate, with a road shift to be planned from the Beja core.
The discovery of Dougga, Testour and Thuburbo Majus is structured around the Dougga Archaeological Site, the Great Mosque of Testour and Testour. The stay thus alternates between the heritage and the countryside, which gives a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 3 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: enhanced vigilance: editorial qualification of the perimeter chosen after France Diplomacy, consulted on 9 September 2026 and conditions of access to monuments and places of worship to be confirmed. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. However, some sites require more walking, elevation or preparation.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Heritage
Site archéologique de Dougga
Dougga preserves an ancient town in the middle of the countryside, with theatre, capitol, temples and libyco-punic mausoleum. Its monuments make visible numid, punic and Roman heritages; their insertion into the relief helps to understand the organization of the agglomeration.

Heritage
Grande Mosquée de Testour
The great mosque illustrates the Andalusian heritage of Testour. Its minaret includes an octagonal part, bays and a clock; the whole was built in the seventeenth century on the initiative of a resident from Andalusian immigration.

Walk
Testour
Established in the hills of the Medjerda valley, Testour bears the mark of the populations from Andalusia. Its building and its tradition of the malouf form a living complement to the ancient remains visited in the vicinity of Teboursouk.

Heritage
Site archéologique de Thuburbo Majus
In Henchir Kasbat, near El Fahs, Thuburbo Majus retains the remains of an ancient city in Zaghwan governorate. The site occupies the area of El Ghrifet; its discovery completes Dougga by a separate archaeological step, to be organized with a specific road route.
