General presentation
Jinan
Artesian sources, urban lakes and Buddhist hills form a provincial capital more intimate than it looks.
Source Baotu, Daming Lake and Mount of the Thousand Buddhas give Jinan's most telling landmarks. Together, they form a destination where the big city, urban life, heritage and shores and lakes meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place indismissible
Source Baotu
Baotu is the most famous source of Jinan, springing in a garden of pavilions and ponds. The flow varies, but the ancient courtyards and reflections justify a visit outside peak hours.

Lake
Lac Daming
Daming Lake collects water from many sources north of the historic centre. Walks, bridges and gardens run easily on foot, with softer light at the end of the day.

Place indismissible
Mont des Mille Bouddhas
This hill gathers carved caves, temples and gazebos south of the city. The stairs are numerous but the ascent gives a clear reading of the urban plain. The weather and the condition of the trails remain decisive.

Museum
Musée du Shandong
The provincial museum preserves bronzes, Buddhist sculptures, calligraphy and regional archaeological discoveries. Several hours are needed to link these collections to the major sites of Qufu and Mount Tai. Architectural details are better discovered without haste.
