General presentation
Parc provincial du Lac-Supérieur
Long wild coast of beaches, caps, forests and ojibwe pictograms on the largest of the Great Lakes.
Pictograms of Agawa Rock, Nokomis Trail and Sand River Falls give the most telling landmarks of the Superior Lake Provincial Park. Together, they form a destination where the coastline, shores and lakes, forests and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 7 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Pictogrammes d'Agawa Rock
Ochre paintings by Anishinaabes appear on a cliff directly on the edge of Lake Superior. The approach is made on a rocky cornice exposed to the waves; the site is only accessible when water and weather allow a safe passage.

Nature and panorama
Nokomis Trail
The Nokomis Trail climb over Old Woman Bay through an rugged forest. Its viewpoints gradually reveal the curve of the bay and the immensity of Lake Superior, rewarding a short but sustained course.

Nature and panorama
Sand River Falls
The Sand River descends to Lake Superior through a succession of rapids and waterfalls in the middle of the forest. A trail runs along several levels of fall, allowing you to choose a short walk or a more complete exploration.
