General presentation
Molokai
Rural island with high cliffs, reefs and strong Hawaiian identity.
To understand what Molokai is, you have to look at Kalaupapa, Halawa Valley and Papohaku Beach. These places give us a view of a territory marked by island landscapes, coastline, natural spaces and heritage and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 7 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place indismissible
Kalaupapa
Kalaupapa occupies an isolated peninsula at the foot of the high cliffs of Molokas, marked by the history of people sent here because of Hansen's disease. The visit, very framed, combines landscapes of harsh beauty, churches, tombs and human memory; the place requires time and respect rather than a simple panoramic stop.

Nature and panorama
Halawa Valley
At the eastern end of Molokasei, Hālawa Valley descends to a dark bay surrounded by vegetation-covered walls. The valley is known for its waterfalls, tarods and deep links to Hawaiian culture; local guided tours give access to the landscape without reducing it to a simple hike.

Nature and landscape
Papohaku Beach
Papōhaku Beach runs a long strip of light sand on the west coast of Moloka的i, often with very few people on the horizon. The sea can be strong depending on the season, but the place hits by its silence, sunsets and this feeling of rare space in the most frequented Hawaiian islands.

Place indismissible
Kapuaiwa Coconut Grove
Kapuaiwa Coconut Grove aligns its old coconut trees near Kaunakai, a plantation associated with the time of King Kamehameha V. It is observed especially from the outside, because the falling nuts make access dangerous; at sunset, the silhouettes of the palm trees draw one of Molokas' most recognizable landscapes.
