General presentation
Porto Santo
Dry and bright island of Madeira archipelago, known for its long golden beach and its very relaxing rhythm.
Porto Santo beach, Vila Baleira and Pico do Castelo give the most telling landmarks of Porto Santo. Together, they make up a destination where the island landscapes, the coastline and the natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: more limited offer and wind possible. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Range
Plage de Porto Santo
The beach of Porto Santo accompanies almost the whole south coast of the island on several kilometers of golden sand. Its length allows to find lively areas near Vila Baleira as much quieter portions towards Ponta da Calheta. Walking by the water at sunset reveals the entire scale of the island and its volcanic reliefs.

Town or village
Vila Baleira
Vila Baleira is the small living centre of Porto Santo, organized between the pier, Largo do Pelourinho Square and white streets punctuated with palm trees. There is Casa Colombo, terraces and immediate access to the beach without losing the peaceful scale of an island village. A late afternoon is enough to capture the atmosphere before dinner.

Panorama and hiking
Pico do Castelo
Pico do Castelo dominates the centre of Porto Santo and retains traces of old defensive developments in the middle of denser vegetation. The climb opens up circular views of Vila Baleira, the long beach and the shredded peaks of the northern part of the island. The trail is particularly pleasant when the heat falls at the end of the day.
