General presentation
Rotterdam
Large reconstructed harbour city, spectacular for its contemporary architecture, bridges, docks and creative energy.
Markthal, Erasmus Bridge and Kop van Zuid give the most telling landmarks of Rotterdam. Together, they form a destination where the big city, urban life, riverscapes and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: a city that is endemic and a more contemporary than a heritage atmosphere. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Architecture
Markthal
The Markthal transforms walking into a gradient between spectacular architecture and market life: showcases, sounds, odours and colorful ceiling make up a dense image. The real experience comes from going back and forth between the monumental inner void and the neighborhood alleys.

Bridge
Pont Érasme
The Erasmus Bridge works as a line of movement and observation: the curve of the apron frames the docks and light on the water. By crossing it and then returning to the opposite bank, the city visually changes between built volume and river respiration.

Port area
Kop van Zuid
Kop van Zuid exposes a water front animated by variable light, high buildings and harbour breath. The journeys between docks and high areas create a rocking effect where the wind and sea reflections give the displacement a very cinematic dimension.

Historical district
Delfshaven
Delfshaven preserves an ancient harbour atmosphere in Rotterdam, with narrow canals, brick warehouses, moored boats and terraces by the water. After the powerful architectures of the centre, this area offers a lower and slower transition, marked by maritime history and gable facades.
