General presentation
Sokcho et Seoraksan
Port of the East Sea and large granite massif combine markets, temples, forests, waterfalls and hikes of varied difficulty.
Seoraksan National Park, Sinheungsa Temple and Abai Village give the most telling landmarks of Sokcho and Seoraksan. Together, they form a destination where urban life, the coastline, mountain reliefs and forests meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting

Nature park
Parc national de Seoraksan
Seoraksan gathers granite peaks, forest valleys, torrents and itineraries sometimes very steep near the Sokcho. Autumn colours attract a considerable crowd, but short trails and valleys also offer accessible discoveries outside the most committed ascents.

Temple
Temple Sinheungsa
Sinheungsa lies at the entrance of a valley of Seoraksan, behind a large bronze statue. Pavilions, paintings and the mountainous setting create a quiet stop before the trails, with a Buddhist history deeply linked to the massif.

Village
Village d'Abai
Abai Village occupies a strip of land between harbour and lagoon at Sokcho, where families from the north settled during the Korean War. The small manual ferry, alleyways and culinary specialties give the neighborhood a very accurate memory of population movements.
