General presentation
Somiedo et Asturies occidentales
Mountains, lakes, brañas, isolated villages and spectacular roads in a wilder part of Asturias.
To understand what Somiedo and Western Asturias are, you must look at the natural park of Somiedo, Lagos de Saliencia and Polas de Somiedo. These places give you a view of a territory marked by mountain reliefs, natural spaces, forests and the countryside and allow you to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: slow mountain roads and changing weather. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Nature
Parc naturel de Somiedo
The Somiedo Nature Park runs as a text in relief: closed valleys, open clearings, and then valley folds where the sounds are silent. An outdoor day gains to be divided into several sequences to follow the luminous contrasts. The height zones offer long views, the areas covered with close details.

Place
Cudillero
Cudillero alternate sloping alleys, sea fronts and panoramas that meet the hour of the day. It reads a port identity by usage, not only by buildings. A late passage in the day brings warmer light on the walls and the coast.

Place
Luarca
Luarca descends to an amphitheater port, between white houses, fishing docks and gazebos on the hills. The sea cemetery and views from the heights give a very strong picture of the Asturian coast; below, the alleys bring back to a more daily atmosphere, made of cafes and boats.

Place
Taramundi
Taramundi understands himself by advancing first in his ancient heart, then towards its natural extensions and accesses. The paths allow to measure the logic of the village in front of the relief, and the transition is read in the material of the streets and the rhythm of the volumes. The average hours of the day are ideal for maintaining constant visual accuracy.
