General presentation
Travnik and Jajce
Historic cities of Central Bosnia, fortresses, waterfalls, Ottoman houses and valley landscapes between Vlašić and the Pliva.
To understand what Travnik and Jajce are, you have to look at the side of Travnik Fortress, Pliva Cascade and Jajce Old Town. These places give us a view of a territory marked by heritage, urban life, riverscapes and mountain reliefs and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: scattered sites and relief in ancient centers. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting

Culture and heritage
Travnik Fortress
The fortress of Travnik It dominates the roofs, minarets and the Lašva Valley from an easy to reach ridge. Its irregular walls, towers and panoramas tell a central Bosnia of passages, Ottoman vizirs and nearby mountains, with a particularly clear light after the rain.

Nature
Pliva Cascade
The Pliva waterfall falls directly at the foot of Jajce, where the river joins the Vrbas in a bust visible from the viewpoints. It is not a remote fall in nature, but a rare urban spectacle: water, fortress and old houses are found in the same setting.

Town or village
Old town of Jajce
The old town of Jajce is located between medieval gates, steep alleys, catacombs and citadel above the rivers. It has an unusual density for a small town: in a short walk, you pass from ramparts to Ottoman houses, then to the rumbling of the Pliva waterfall.
