General presentation
Jinju and Sancheong
River fortress, historical museum and valley linked to traditional medicine connect city and foothills of Jirisan.
Fortress Jinjuseong, Jinju National Museum and Donguibogam Village give the most telling landmarks of Jinju and Sancheong. Together, they form a destination where urban life, riverscapes, heritage and mountain reliefs meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting

Culture and heritage
Fortress Jinjuseong
Jinju seong occupies a rocky bank of Namgang and was the scene of major seats during the Japanese invasions of the 16th century. Remparts, pavilions and views of the river now make up a clear walk, particularly beautiful during the festival of lanterns.

Museum
Jinju National Museum
The Musée national de Jinju It is located inside the fortress and devotes a large part of its collections to the wars of Imjin. Arms, documents and models place the ramparts in a complex regional conflict without reducing the visit to a heroic narrative.

Village
Donguibogam village
Donguibogam Village presents in Sancheong the history of Korean medicine and treatise compiled by Heo Jun. Exhibitions, plant gardens and trails occupy an extensive mountain site, closer to a cultural park than to a classical museum.
