Okayama and Kurashiki
Large landscaped garden, ancient sanctuary and canal area make up an easy to travel cultural destination.
Kōraku-en Garden, Kurashiki Historic District and Kibitsu Sanctuary give the most telling landmarks of Okama and Kurashiki. Together, they form a destination where urban life, heritage, riverscapes and the countryside meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

For a stay of 3 to 5 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Luoghi imperdibili
Una selezione per iniziare a sognare e organizzare il soggiorno — non un elenco esaustivo di tutto ciò che c’è da vedere.

Giardino
Kōraku-en Garden
Kōraku-en deploys large lawns, ponds, rice fields and tea houses facing the castle Okayama. Its open perspectives differ from more narrow gardens, and the cultures maintained in the enclosure recall its origin as a seigneurial domain.

Place indismissible
Historical district of Kurashiki
The Bikan district follows a canal lined with willows, old white attices and shopping houses. Museums, workshops and small courtyards occupy these buildings today, but an early morning walk still makes it possible to read clearly the harbour organization.

Tempio
Kibitsu Shrine
Kibitsu is associated with the ancient narratives that inspired the legend of Momotarō. Its huge covered hall and its long corridor on stilts stretch at the foot of a hill, linking religious architecture, gardens and small shrines in a very coherent set.
