Place indismissible
Burlington Waterfront
Burlington Waterfront reveals the city at water level, with direct views of Lake Champlain and a very legible river front animation. The function of the city is understood as the interface between land and water: walking, navigation, markets and urban breathing. It is often where the place takes its simplest visual meaning.
Culture and heritage
Shelburne Museum
The Shelburne Museum is a collection of historic buildings that exhibit an American cultural panorama, from the Americana to the decorative arts, to the rural and urban collections. The journey avoids the linearity of a traditional museum and gives a tactile reading of material memory. It is a visit that progresses almost like a crossing of landscape.
Lake
Lake Champlain
Lake Champlain remains a central presence for Burlington, a huge and changing weather, with a waterline that structures travel and viewpoints. Walking on board at every moment reminds us of the role of this great expanse as a filter between states and landscapes. The lake becomes the real landmark of the regional experience.
