Monumental, fast and climbing cliffs in the Appalachians.
To understand what New River Gorge is, you need to look at New River Gorge Bridge, Endless Wall Trail and Thurmond. These places give us a view of a territory marked by mountain reliefs, riverscapes, forests and natural spaces and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 3 to 7 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: changing weather in altitude. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Nature and landscape
New River Gorge Bridge
The New River Gorge Bridge is a major structure above a deep and changing bed. The views from the road and the surrounding bridges give an idea of how the bridge crosses the gorge without completely dominating it. The engineering gesture becomes especially visible from the horizontal perspective.
Nature and landscape
Endless Wall Trail
I'm not sure what I'm doing.Endless Wall Trail Follows a forest edge punctuated with views such as Diamond Point, where the river, rail and the intertwining cliff. The walk is demanding but regular, with a real sense of rocky border. The diving view rhythms the course along the openings.
Place indismissible
Thurmond
Thurmond preserves an atmosphere of ancient mining village on the New River, now very small in amplitude but rich in industrial traces. The buildings and the residual railway line give a sensation of suspended time. The visit is more sensitive to details than the figures.
