Strangford Lough and the Ards Peninsula
Large seaside, gardens, coastal villages, birds, heritage and slow roads southeast of Belfast.
The discovery of Strangford Lough and the Ards Peninsula revolves around Strangford Lough, Mount Stewart and Scrabo Tower. The stay thus alternates between the coastline, the shores and the lakes, the natural spaces and the heritage, which gives a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.

For a stay of 2 to 4 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: calm rhythm and maritime weather. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Marine lake
Strangford Lough
Strangford Lough is a vast marine lake, punctuated by anises, islands, villages and changing shorelines. It is best discovered in stages, by car, on foot or by ferry, to smell the saltwater, country and discreet heritage mix.
Gardens
Mount Stewart
Mount Stewart is especially remarkable for its very compound gardens, where terraces, exotic plantations and views to Strangford Lough respond. The house adds context, but it is the external paths and changes in plant atmosphere that remain the most remembered.
Belvedere
Scrabo Tower
Scrabo Tower dominates Newtownards from an open hill where air comes from Strangford Lough The climb is short but steep in places; at the top, the look goes on the waters of the river, the compartmentalized fields and the soft curves of the d'Ards peninsula.
