Island community at the confluence of the Mackenzie and Liard rivers, starting point of the major Dehcho parks.
Ehdaa Historical Site, Mackenzie River and Liard River provide the most telling landmarks of Fort Simpson and Dehcho. Together, they form a destination where riverscapes, island landscapes, heritage and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Ehdaa Historical Site
Ehdaa Historical Site is located at an ancient meeting place near the confluence of Mackenzie and Liard in Fort Simpson. The site evokes Dene Gatherings, Exchanges, Traveller Passages and the sustainable installation of the community on this tip of land. The riverscape helps to understand why this waterfront has been so long.

In Fort Simpson, Mackenzie River The long summer lights often transform the water into a copper mirror. It is a quiet, wide brown tablecloth lined with forest and sand banks. From the shore, the river is used as a route of movement, fishing and refuelling to the north.

The Liard River arrives at Fort Simpson with a fast, loaded water that joins the Mackenzie in a vast confluence landscape. Its wooded banks, visible currents and colour variations tell of a mountain river that has become a northern road. The best look is from the village's surroundings, where the two waters meet.

MacPherson House
MacPherson House is one of the heritage houses associated with the history of Fort Simpson, with its simple architecture linked to years of trade, missions and river administration. The building gives a human scale to this past: wood, veranda, modest volumes and close to the river. His visit is especially interesting for those who like to read history in ordinary constructions.
