Shangri-La
Tibetan Monastery, Old Town and Highland Prairies make up the main gate to the northwest of Yunnan.
The discovery of Shangri-La is centred around Songzanlin Monastery, Old Town of Dukezong and Pudacuo National Park. The stay thus alternates between urban life, mountain reliefs, heritage and the countryside, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.

For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

The largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan dominates a lake and a village north of Shangri-La. The place remains culturally sensitive and discovers itself with discretion, without hindering local practices; schedules, outfits and photographic rules are to be checked on the spot.

Reconstructed Tibetan streets and houses surround a hill with a large prayer mill. Collections and remains take time to exceed a simple photographic stop; reserving a sufficient beach helps to understand their regional historical context.

Pudacuo National Park
Lakes, forests and pastures are covered by shuttles and bridges in a highly regulated park. Distances, weather and access conditions must be checked prior to departure; water, suitable clothing and time limits are still useful, even during the most favorable season.
