Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve
Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve protects one of the few large high prairie landscapes still visible in the Flint Hills. The grasses wave around the hills, the bison sometimes appear in the distance, and the buildings of the historic ranch remind that this landscape was also shaped by the breeding.

Konza Prairie
Konza Prairie offers a more scientific and wild approach to the Flint Hills, with trails that climb between tall grasses, flint outcrops and discrete valleys. Near Manhattan, the site is suitable for walkers who want to feel the prairie by wind, slopes and the almost total absence of constructions.

The Flint Hills Scenic Byway The road runs through a Kansas of soft hills, fences, ranches and meadows, where the light glides over the grasses for a long time. Between Council Grove and Cassoday, the road is mainly for its slow rhythm, its open horizons and subtle changes of colour depending on the season.

Council Grove
Council Grove keeps several traces of the Santa Fe Trail: ancient stone buildings, historic panels, trees associated with the track stories and small quiet main street. The city gives a concrete stop in the Flint Hills, between memory of the convoys to the West and rural village life of Kansas.
