Landmannalaugar and the Highlands
Rhyolite mountains, lava fields and hot springs open one of the great Icelandic hiking experiences.
Landmannalaugar, Laugahraun and Brennisteinsalda give the most telling landmarks of Landmannalaugar and Hautes Terres. Together, they form a destination where mountain reliefs, volcanic landscapes and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Lakagígar
Lakagígar forms a chain of lava craters associated with the Laki eruption, in a landscape of mosses, slags and black plains. The site requires time and real attention to the slopes of the highlands: the experience rests on isolation, mineral colors and the fragility of the soils.

Laugahraun is a rough lava flow that borders the camp of Landmannalaugar. Crossing it allows to pass abruptly from mineral black to coloured slopes, in a short but already very expressive loop.

Brennisteinsalda
Brennisteinsalda is a mountain of rhyolite striated with sulfur, steam and warm colors. Its ascent offers one of the best views on Landmannalaugar, with more demanding terrain than it seems.
