Painted Canyon
Painted Canyon opens a first striking window on the badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, with stried buttocks, ravines and layers of soft colors. The lookout near the Interstate makes it easier to stop, but the short trails allow you to descend a little in this fragile and carved landscape.

The Little Missouri River Snake at the bottom of the badlands, surrounded by poplars, meadows and eroding hills. Theodore Roosevelt National Park, it brings water lacking dry decor; its meanders often attract bison, wild horses, cervids and birds throughout the day.
