Bonneville Salt Flats
The Bonneville Salt Flats form a vast white crust west of the Great Salt Lake, so flat that the horizon seems to float. After the rain, salt can become a mirror; in dry weather, it cracks under the footsteps. The speed records added a mechanical layer to this almost abstract landscape.

Wendover Airfield retains the traces of a large training base of the Second World War, laid on the edge of the salt desert.
