To understand what Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk are, you must look to the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Reserve, Kobuk Valley National Park and Kobuk's Great Dunes. These places give us a view of a territory marked by mountain reliefs, riverscapes and natural spaces and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 3 to 7 days, you must plan a fairly long day. Also to be anticipated: no roads: essential taxi and autonomy aircraft and Arctic weather and very remote rescue. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. However, some sites require more walking, elevation or preparation.

Gates of the Arctic is a roadless, unmarked and serviceless park made up of glacial valleys, wild rivers and Brooks Range Mountains. It is intended for very autonomous travellers or accompanied by specialized guides, with light aircraft access and serious preparation against cold, isolation and brutal weather.

Kobuk Valley National Park
Kobuk Valley is surprised by its sand dunes in the middle of the Arctic, bordered by the Kobuk River, the tundra and the traces of caribou migration. The park does not have access to roads; the experience is based on plane-taxi, camp, immense silence and careful reading of conditions.
