The Météores erect sandstone towers above the plain of Thessaly, crowned by monasteries that seem to be laid on the rock. Roads, stairs and paths allow to alternate religious visits, viewpoints and walk between vertical formations.

Kalambaka extends at the foot of the rocks of the Météores, with hotels, taverns, train station and streets facing the cliffs. The city is especially convenient to organize visits, but some views from the high districts constantly remind the proximity of the perched monasteries.

Kastraki
Kastraki is the nearest village to the rocks of the Météores, with low houses, gardens, small churches and cliffs almost at the end of the streets. Its location promotes departures on foot, the end of the day on the viewpoints and a quieter atmosphere than Kalambaka.
