Benghazi is a large port town in Cyrenaica on the Gulf of Sirte. Its history links the ancient settlements of Euesperides and Berenice to the Ottoman, Italian and contemporary transformations, the traces of which are read in the urban landscape.

Ptolémaïs, site de Tolmeita
The ruins of Ptolemaïs are near the present village of Tolmeita. This city belonged to the Cyrenaic Pentapole, with Cyrene, Apollonia and other centres, which allows to understand an ancient urban network on a regional scale.

This ancient Catholic cathedral is a witness to the urban history of Benghazi. The building is described as decommissioned and must therefore be presented as a built heritage, without promising an active religious function or an open interior.

Tocra, also known as Tauchera or Tukrah, is a coastal town in Cyrenaica, and is associated with an ancient foundation from Cyrene. It completes the network of the Pentapole and links Benghazi geographically to the remains of Ptolemais.
