General presentation
Bizerte et l’Ichkeul
In the north of Tunis, Bizerte combines an old port framed by fortifications with a rocky coast facing Cape Angela. In the hinterland, the Ichkeul Park protects a lake, marshes and limestone. Bird watching completes urban walks, with particular interest during wintering.
To understand what Bizerte and Ichkeul are, you must look at the Ichkeul National Park, Old Port and Medina of Bizerte and Bizerte Oceanographic Museum, Fort Sidi El Henni. These places give us a view of a territory marked by urban life, the coastline, the shores and lakes and wetlands and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 2 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: enhanced vigilance: editorial qualification of the perimeter chosen after France Diplomacy, consulted on 9 September 2026 and conditions of access to monuments and places of worship to be confirmed. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Nature
Parc national de l’Ichkeul
The park protects a set of lake, marsh and limestone. Seasonal variations in water and salinity shape this major habitat for migratory birds, particularly important during wintering.

Walk
Vieux port et médina de Bizerte
The ancient heart of Bizerte is organized around a harbour basin protected by the kasbah and Ksiba. This landscape of docks and fortifications allows you to discover the maritime dimension of the city, distinct from modern port facilities.

Museum
Musée océanographique de Bizerte, fort Sidi El Henni
The oceanographic museum is located in Fort Sidi El Henni, at the entrance to the old port. It is documented for its aquariums and marine presentations; the current state of the collections and their accessibility still need to be confirmed.

Nature
Cap Angela et Ras Ben Sakka
West of Bizerte, Cape Angela is a rocky promontory with the tip of Ras Ben Sakka marking the northern tip of the African continent. It is a landscaped exit different from the urban route around the old port.
