Xingcheng maintains a square plan lined with Ming walls, with four doors and streets converging towards a central tower. The interior fabric remains inhabited despite tourist amenities, especially pleasant early in the morning.

Jiumenkou has nine stone arches crossing a river at the Great Wall in a narrow valley. The restored site runs through sustained stairs and complements Shanhaiguan usefully.

Longwan Bay
Longwan is the main seaside promenade of Huludao, facing a wide beach in the Gulf of Bohai. The interest is less due to swimming than to the contrast between seafront, harbour and coastal hills.
