Places worth visiting

Remarkable location
Shikoku
Shikoku offers a more rural Japan, marked by the steep valleys, the pilgrimage temples of the 88 shrines and the powerful coasts of Kochi. Around the Shimanto, low bridges without parapets, rice fields and river villages give the island a slow pace, very different from the large cities of Honshū.

Castle
Kōchi Castle
The castle of Kōchi is one of the few in the country to keep both its historical dungeon and the main palace. The wooden rooms, the views of the city and the chain of doors give a direct reading of seigneurial life and defense.

Beach
Katsurahama beach
Katsurahama describes a curve of pebbles and pines facing the Pacific, dominated by a statue of Sakamoto Ryōma. The currents make swimming dangerous and forbidden, but the coastal walk, the small sanctuary and the views remain very strong.

River
Shimanto River
The Shimanto crosses a rural area of forests, villages and rice fields before reaching the Pacific. Its submersible bridges without parapets create emblematic points of view, while cycling, canoeing and walks require an organization adapted to distances.
