General presentation
Nagoya et Inuyama
Large industrial metropolis and ancient castral village combine museums, shrines, gardens and feudal architecture.
Nagoya Castle, Atsuta-jingū Shrine and Inuyama Castle give the most telling landmarks of Nagoya and Inuyama. Together, they form a destination where the big city, urban life, heritage and riverscapes meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Remarkable location
Aéroport international du Chūbu
The Chūbu International Airport is built on an artificial island in Ise Bay, giving departures and arrivals a very maritime setting. Beyond its practical function for Nagoya It offers observation terraces, baths with views and direct access to trains to the city.

Castle
Château de Nagoya
The castle of Nagoya is known for its gold dolphin roofs and its vast Honmaru palace rebuilt with refined decorations. The works of access to the dungeon evolve, but the ramparts, gardens and halls of the palace already give a complete historical visit.

Temple
Sanctuaire Atsuta-jingū
Atsuta-jingū occupies a large forest in the middle of Nagoya and one of the most important Shinto shrines in the country. The alleyways, cult buildings and small treasure museum offer a clear contrast with the surrounding commercial and industrial districts.

Castle
Château d'Inuyama
Inuyama Castle retains a small wooden dungeon over the Kiso River. The interior staircase is steep and the upper narrow gallery, but the view of the river and the mountains perfectly highlights the strategic position of the site.
