General presentation
Tichitt
Tichitt is distinguished by its stone architecture at the foot of the reliefs of the Tagant and by its Osien environment. Dhar Tichitt is a much larger archaeological complex, marked by ancient establishments of farmers and breeders. These two heritages must be differentiated in the map as in the routes, close to sensitive security limits.
The discovery of Tichitt revolves around Ancient Ksar of Tichitt and Archaeological Sites of Dhar Tichitt. The stay thus alternates between desert areas, heritage and mountain reliefs, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: security to be read before any displacement; level depends on the perimeter and access retained and time, rates, access and unverified terrain conditions with managers. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. However, some sites require more walking, elevation or preparation.
Strengths and constraints
Strengths
- Ancien ksar de Tichitt
- Archaeological sites of Dhar Tichitt
Before you choose
- Security to be read before moving; level depends on perimeter and access.
- Unaudited hours, rates, access and field conditions with managers.
- Heat, tracks and distance: local preparation and supervision to adapt to the course.
- Zone consisting of the ksar and archaeological assembly of the Dhar: maximum red level, formally not recommended. Holl (2009) places the Dhar between 9°30′ and 9°05′ W; its eastern part, whose archaeological site of Akhreijit, exceeds the red line passing through Akhrejit. This classification of the set does not mean that the ksar alone is red.

Heritage
Ancien ksar de Tichitt
Tichitt is at the foot of the Tagant plateau and retains a vernacular stone architecture. The date culture is part of its Osian environment; the historical ksar must be distinguished from the scattered prehistoric settlements of Dhar Tichitt.

Heritage
Sites archéologiques du Dhar Tichitt
Dhar Tichitt designates a line of slender cliffs and many old establishments of farmers and breeders. Enclosures, habitats and dry stone storage spaces are evidence of Saharan societies that existed prior to medieval caravan cities.
