Tozeur and the mountain oases
At the edge of the Shout al-Jerid, Tozeur serves as a starting point for the mountain oasis of the North-West. Chebika, Tamerza and Mides relate sources, palm groves and detailed reliefs. The old villages and salty landscapes make up a contrasting route, to be organized according to the heat, the conditions of the waeds and the border situation.
Tozeur, Oasis de Chebika and Tamerza and its old village give the most telling landmarks of Tozeur and the mountain oasis. Together they form a destination where the desert areas, natural spaces, mountain reliefs and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

For a stay of 3 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: high risk for the area composed due to the border area of Midès; the other components are not considered to be a general prohibition and conditions of access to monuments and places of worship to be confirmed. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. However, some sites require more walking, elevation or preparation.

- High risk for the compound area due to the border sector of Midès; the other components are not considered to be a general prohibition.
- Conditions of access to monuments and places of worship to be confirmed.
- Perimeter Tozeur–Chebika–Tamerza–Midès and observation of the chott from the roads; do not extend to the Saharan border or to the disadvised mountains of the west-central.
- Midès is border: check local accesses. The 5 km rule cited for Jendouba and Le Kef should not be mechanically extended to Tozeur governorate.
- Heat, relief and distance: adapt the exits; access to wads and desert according to local conditions.
- The compound area includes Midès, immediately in contact with the orange border border border of the France Diplomacy map: the high level reflects this component, not a general prohibition of Tozeur or Chott. Check with authorities on authorized border areas; no border crossings or improvised excursions into the gullies.

Oasis de Chebika
Chebika is a mountain oasis in the western Tunisian province of Tozeur. Its location in contact with the reliefs makes it a complementary stage of Tamerza and Midès, within a circuit distinct from the urban discovery of Tozeur.

Tozeur is located between the Shott el-Jerid and the Shott el-Gharsa, in southwestern Tunisia. This town of Djérid is a base for discovering salty landscapes and mountain oasises, while keeping an urban stage on the route.

Tamerza et son ancien village
Tamerza combines an oasis of mountains, springs and an old village abandoned after the floods of 1969. The canyon and surrounding reliefs remind us that the water shapes this arid landscape while being able to abruptly transform inhabited places.

Midès is a mountain oasis in southwestern Tunisia, close to the Algerian border. It completes the Chebika and Tamerza route in a landscape of detailed reliefs; the visit must remain in the authorized Tunisian sectors.
