General presentation
Tokyo
A huge but legible metropole in neighbourhoods, between sanctuaries, museums, gardens, markets and contrasting urban scenes.
The Tokyo discovery is based around Temple Sensō-ji, Tokyo National Museum and Shibuya Carrefour. The stay thus alternates between the big city, urban life, heritage and riverscapes, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.
See all
For a stay of 4 to 8 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Temple
Temple Sensō-ji
Sensō-ji opens on a long shopping alley before reaching a vast enclosure of temples, doors and pagodas. The district of Asakusa keeps around this well-used sanctuary a lower ladder, conducive to a morning walk between stalls, incense and banks of the Sumida.

Remarkable location
Tour de Tokyo
The Tour de Tokyo keep its red and white look above Minato, between temples, buildings and fast axes. Its platforms give a legible view of the capital, especially at the end of the day, when the neighborhoods light up and the silhouette of the tower itself becomes a landmark from the nearby streets.

Temple
Sanctuaire Yasukuni
Yasukuni is a Shinto shrine in Chiyoda associated with Japanese war deaths, with massive tori, ginkgo alleys and sober ritual buildings. The place requires a careful visit, because its political history remains sensitive; the atmosphere varies greatly between ordinary days, ceremonies and cherry season.

Remarkable location
Odaiba
Odaiba is holding a Tokyo facing the bay, with waterfront walks, shopping malls, big wheel, museums and views of the Rainbow Bridge. The neighborhood works particularly well at dusk, when the glass facades, ferries and the skyline of Minato give a very different atmosphere to the narrow streets of the center.
